Sophrosyne

Sophrosyne, (sof-row-sin-ee) a noun, is derived from the Greek language and is defined as "a healthy state of mind, characterized by self-control, moderation, and a deep awareness of one's true self, and resulting in true happiness."

That definition is essentially my goal for life. I strive to live as healthy as I can while keeping in mind my social life and my sanity. You may have noticed that moderation is included in the definition, and that's how I live. I do not eat completely clean, I am not a vegan or a vegetarian. Every once in a while I eat a cookie that wasn't made with flax, or a pancake that's not whole wheat.

I believe in the 85-15 rule. 85% healthy/whole foods, 15% "indulgences." If I didn't, I would never be able to go on dinner dates with my boyfriend, or have a girl's night at our favorite Hibachi grill, and that would be a miserable life.

My intentions for this blog are to offer up some recipes, motivators, indulgences, and maybe even some sanity tools (crochet patterns). I love breakfast foods almost as much as I love desserts, but I also love savory dinner foods, and light lunch foods, and all other kinds of foods! I've done the obsessive thing, and I just don't think it's the best way to go. You don't get the body you want by being stressed out!

I do workout along with eating healthy, and I believe that is a crucial element to attaining fitness goals. I have done the Insanity program, and I am currently working on the Tone It Up program, and I love them both! I also love to bike, and I will run occasionally.
